On February 24, 2024, the exhibition “Anomaly” opened in the studio of Sergeev Sergey in Annemasse, dedicated to the events of the last two years, which presented works from different years and new paintings.

Art Club D137 in conjunction with the Arts Square Gallery presents Sergey Sergeev’s exhibition “Freedom from Actuality”. Sergeev is well-known Petersburg artist, participant in the non-conformism movement and one of the creators of the D137 gallery. In art, Sergeev developed the Palimpsest style, which combines layering, archaic and elements of symbolism, as well as the Captcha direction, the works of which are designed to determine the artificiality of the intellect of contemporaries who have forgotten how to understand the image and to enjoy contemplation.

The exhibition consists of both new works and the works of the Captcha project, which was shown four years ago at the Museum of Urban Sculpture in St. Petersburg, and on which the author continues to work to this day. The main goal is to present the painting “New Wave”, created by Sergeev specifically for Evgeny Kozlov’s “2x3m” collection, and which will go to Berlin after the exhibition.
A number of interesting events will be held during the exhibition:
15.02 at 5 p.m. – lecture by the famous journalist and film critic Mikhail Trofimenkov about the New Wave in French cinema.
22.02 – a meeting with Hannelore Fobo, where she will talk about the development of “2x3m” and why she believes that “2x3m” can become a brand of Russian art on the international art scene.

On November 17, a discussion was held in the DC Gromov with the support of the D137 Art Club as part of the St. Petersburg Cultural Forum, dedicated to collecting contemporary art and creating a collectors club.

Meditation about virtue of solitude.
“Alexandra Fedorova has already shown to the St. Petersburg audience seriesof paintings devoted to architectural monuments and the ancient culture of the East in overall in the art galleries and in the spaces of scientific institutions. Current exhibition of a brave adventurer is the resultof her deepest interest in the culture of Buddhism: represented artworks were created in different periods of time and were based on different sources of inspiration. The artworks, that are on display in the Museum of Modern Art of SPSU (paintings on canvas and black-and-white photographs (bromine-silver print), depict ancient Buddhist monasteries,that were major educational centers of that time, and gain a very unique meaning in the space of the St.Petersburg State University.
A number of works is dedicated to the monastic universities of Ancient and Medieval India.Those represent two of the earliest cave monastery in Maharashtra: the Bhaja Caves and the KanheriCaves, as well as Nalanda University in Bihar and medieval monastery – university Ratnagiri inOrissa. Two paintings depict the ancient library at Angkor (Cambodia).
Three paintings form a unique series and depict sacred bronze figures from the collection ofAshmolean Museum (Oxford): Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion and Kadam – a type of stupa, that was done by Master Atisa, who reintroducedpure Buddhism in Tibet.
